My grandparents opened the first beach hotel in Antigua back in 1950 and it remained family run until the late 90s. As grandkids growing up in and around the hotel, we were occasionally asked to take guests up to see the offshore islands. That was the start of our private charter training.
When I started Adventure Antigua in late 1999, I immediately started taking guests on private charters to areas off the beaten track and to Barbuda. Recently we have seen the market change slightly where there’s been a demand for a slightly more luxurious charter experience. Now people are almost as interested in the boat they’re on as the places we explore.
With this change we made the decision to find the perfect day charter boat for Antigua and Barbuda and went to the Miami and then Lauderdale boat shows. I even explored what kind of day charter boats were being used in Ibiza and in Palma where there are hundreds and hundreds of charter companies. We really took our time before deciding upon “Seclusion”.
She’s the perfect balance between luxury and practicality. She’s able to slice through Atlantic swells comfortably but has a shallow enough draft to get into that “skinny” (shallow) water where the traditional charter boats can’t access.
